Job Summary

Simon Friend Entertainment are looking for a Sound No. 1 for the UK Tour of The Girl on the Train. Rehearsals start the w/c 9th December 2024 with the tour running from the 13th January 2024. The Sound 1 attends the technical rehearsals for radio mic use and to act as Sound 1 for certain venues.

Job Title - Sound No 1

Production - The Girl on the Train

Location - UK and Ireland tour, 2025

Responsible to - Company Stage Manager / Production Manager

Expected Start date - w/c 6th January 2025

The Sound 1 is responsible for the operation of sound equipment at select venues of the tour where Radio Mics are required. The Sound 1 will attend the technical rehearsals and preview week of the production in Richmond to set up the equipment and rehearse the use of the radio mics with the Company, and will perform the role of a Sound 1 for select venues. The Sound 1 will liaise with the Sound Designer to ensure that the set up and maintenance of the production is up to standard, and assist the Tech Swing to troubleshoot remotely if required. Job Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of equipment rigging, suspension and safety
  • Proven track record of working in theatre, music or live events.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the sound team to recreate the show in its UK touring version
  • To prepare and maintain a mix script and maintain/update QLab file as necessary in conjunction with the sound designer and sound associates.
  • To communicate with hire companies and suppliers when equipment needs specific maintenance or replacement.
  • To advise the producer if specific training is required to carry out parts of the role correctly and safely.
  • During Radio Mic performance weeks:
    • To perform comprehensive pre and post show checks as described in the department operations and maintenance manual
    • To mix the performances
  • To attend all get-in, fit-up and get-outs for the Radio Mic-ed venues as required.
  • To be responsible for and take an active part in a safe, inclusive and respectful working environment.
  • Adhere to the Health and Safety guidelines of the Company.
  • To negotiate with other departments for time and resources as needed to full-fill the role.
