Job Summary

We are seeking a Stage and Automation Technician to join our wider technical team at Curve. The post holder will ensure all Made at Curve and visiting productions are presented to the highest standard and assist in the development and running of effective maintenance routines.

Job Description

The successful candidate will have relevant experience of working in a busy theatre environment for them to provide full technical support to Curve and its users. As a member of the stage department, you will require basic carpentry and/or metalwork skills and a broad understanding of stagecraft. Knowledge of rigging techniques and related equipment such as shackles, chain and motor hoists is desirable but not essential. You will need to be able to work independently and as part of a team to participate in the upkeep and maintenance of the performance spaces. You will be expected to lead a team of casual technicians to maintain the high standards we require.

As well as being an all-round stage technician, we are looking for a candidate who has experience of flying during fit-ups, get outs and performances, and is looking to further their experience in this field. This can be with either hemp, counterweight, or automated systems. The right candidate will receive full training in the venues powered flying system to enable them to program and operate for touring and produced productions. Knowledge of LOLER, PUWER, COSHH and as well as a practical knowledge of electrical safety within the workplace is desirable, but not essential. Evening, weekend, and bank holiday work will be required as a normal part of the working week.
