Job Description

The Bridge Theatre Lighting Department is currently looking for an enthusiastic and talented Stage LX on our production of Into The Woods.

We would welcome CVs from those who have at least 2 years' experience working as part of a lighting team on professional live performances of a mid - large scale. As a Stage LX at The Bridge Theatre you will take responsibility for assisting the LX & Video Operator and Duty Tech with rig checks, carrying out a stage LX track for each performance and assisting with resets.

You will be a key member of the production team for the run of the production, reacting to any issues that may occur with onstage lighting for each performance, ensuring the lighting design is maintained throughout the run.

Ideal start date would be Thursday 1 January 2026.

Job Requirements

Essential

  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a lighting technician with prior experience of Stage LX plots.
  • Good working knowledge of power in a theatre environment.
  • Good working knowledge of moving light fixtures and Smoke Machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret lighting plans.
  • Ability to read and interpret stage plots.
  • Approachable and friendly, with an understanding and enthusiasm for the production process.
  • The ability to work well under pressure in a collaborative environment.
  • Safe working practice. Good working knowledge of Working at Height Regulations, LOLER, PUWER, CDM and general safe working practice in a theatrical environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • An eye for detail, able to spot issues during live performances and react accordingly.

Desirable

  • Moving light maintenance skills
  • Experience using RC4 wireless dimming systems.
  • IPAF License and Tallescope Training
  • Experience of working in a Producing House

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include all tasks customarily performed by a Stage LX in respect of a theatrical production of an appropriate standard and scale including (but not limited to):

  • Assisting with rig checks.
  • Be available within contracted hours to assist with maintenance to the LX rig & practicals.
  • To report, repair/replace any faulty LX fixtures and smoke machines on stage.
  • Be present for and observe blackout checks, resolving any issues that arise.
  • Carry out stage LX cues during the show as per the show plot.
  • Assist with removing batteries from practicals, returning them back to the charging station.
  • Be proactive with communicating and fixing issues that arise with LX equipment etc.
  • Assist with other duties required by the lighting department.
