Production: Lost Girl
Venue: The Lowry
Contract: R&D Period + Performance Dates
Fee: £150 per day (ITC/Equity rates)
Status: Paid position

We are seeking a Manchester-based Stage Manager to support the Research & Development period and performances of Lost Girl at The Lowry.

Lost Girl is a one-woman play integrating embedded sound, lighting, and minimal set. You will work closely with a small, collaborative creative team to ensure the smooth running of rehearsals, technical setup, and performances.

Job Requirements

Key Information

  • Must be available on 19th and 20th May for dress rehearsals, with the performance taking place at The Lowry on 20th May.
  • Attend one rehearsal day during May, ideally on 5th, 6th, 8th, or 15th May (the Stage Manager will be required for at least one of these dates, depending on availability).
  • Rate: £150 per day (ITC/Equity rates).
  • Total commitment: 3 days across the rehearsal period and performance dates. (8 Hours per day)

Potential Future Dates

Subject to funding, we may perform the work in late September/October, which would involve an additional two days. If you are unavailable during this period, please let us know - this will not affect your application for the May engagement.

Job Responsibilities

Pre-Production:

  • Read and break down the script (props, cues, costume, sound, lighting, set needs)

  • Risk assess performance space in collaboration with Producer (especially for small venues)

Rehearsal Day:

  • Record blocking, changes, and timing

  • Note technical cue placement (lights, sound, transitions)

  • Track props and costume continuity

  • Support performer (lines, pacing, practical needs)

  • Prepare simple running sheet / cue list

Technical & Setup

  • Mark out stage / performance area

  • Set and check props / set

  • During Performances

  • Support the operation of cues (lights, sound, projection if used)

  • Manage pre-show checks (props preset, costume, tech ready)

  • Reset props, costume, and tech post show

  • Secure equipment and performance space

  • Note any issues for next performance
