Job Summary

Great Show Productions are looking for a Stage Manager to work on COME ALIVE! THE GREATEST SHOWMAN CIRCUS SPECTACULAR.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the stage management department (including casual staff and deps), including recruitment, line management, scheduling, recording of hours and training;
  • To update and supervise the ASM plots;
  • Acquiring a familiarity with all plots/tracks within your department so that you can provide holiday or absence cover for other members of your department as required, in addition to ensuring that your staff are trained to cover other plots/tracks as required;
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure the smooth running of the show;
  • To ensure all props are cleaned, well maintained and ready for each performance;
  • To coordinate the supply of all equipment and consumables required to run the show within budget as approved by the Company/General Manager;
  • Keeping the petty cash documentation up to date;
  • Attend rehearsal, technical, dress and costume understudy rehearsals as required;
  • Recognise where maintenance work needs to be carried out outside of the theatre and to bring this to the attention of the Production Manager;
  • In collaboration with the Production Manager plan and budget for cast changes;
  • Ensure that security, safety and good housekeeping procedures for the department are properly carried out;
  • Undertake backstage and front of house stage management work during the production;
  • Comply with the Manager's Health and Safety and other policies and ensure these are adhered to at all times;
  • Perform all other job-related duties as requested.

Job Requirements

Qualifications / Essential Skills:

  • Similar relevant experience in a stage management position for large-scale theatre;
  • A high degree of stage management expertise and a knowledge and practical understanding of managing a hands-on team;
  • Strong all round technical skills;
  • Good knowledge of technical production;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office;
  • Excellent knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and Risk Assessments;
  • Ability to lead and manage a team, fostering a positive and professional work culture;
  • Flexible and self-motivated with the ability to work calmly under pressure.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working with Circus performers and equipment
  • Experience with FOYS flying
  • Experience working with SFX and Pyro
