Job Summary

Gothic Opera are looking for a Stage Manager for their production of Die Rheinnixen by Offenbach at Battersea Arts Centre this Halloween

Job Description

Appointment:

  • Ad-hoc in person and online production meetings August-October
  • Music rehearsals 22nd September and - 25th September
  • Production rehearsals 29th September - 25th October at Battersea Arts Centre during the day, evenings and/or weekends depending on cast availability.
  • 27th October: Get-in and tech

    28th October: Stage and Piano / Stage and Orchestra

    29th October: Dress rehearsal

    30th October: Show 1

    31st October: Show 2

    1st November: Show 3

    2nd November: Show 4 + Get out

    Fee: £2100 inclusive

Job Requirements

To undertake stage management duties, including but not limited to:

  • Managing the rehearsal schedule and cast NA's
  • Sourcing props and managing props during rehearsals and performances.
  • Ensuring the stage and back of stage areas remain safe at all times for all cast, instrumentalists, production team and creative team involved.
  • Managing safety onstage during performances as well as assisting cast with props.
  • Working with the Production Manager and crew during the get-in, rigging, de-rig, get-out, and returns, and helping set up back of stage areas and dressing rooms.
  • Organising and managing show pre-sets.
  • Anticipating any potential health and safety issues that may occur during rehearsals or performances, and raising these during meetings and discussions.

Job Responsibilities

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

At least 1 year experience working as Stage Manager in a similar sized production

Proven ability to work within allocated budgets.

Excellent organisation and time-keeping skills

Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and practices

Comfortable leading and managing a rehearsal room

Desirable

Experience working in non-traditional theatre settings

An interest in opera and/or classical music

Comfortable reading a musical score
