We're looking for someone to join our team as we tour our new show 'Exploshine' to SEN schools and community groups around the UK this year. Exploshine explores the rich and unseen vibrancy of inner lives through imaginative set design and playful moments of interaction between the performers and the audience. The Stage Manager/Driver will join us in rehearsals from 2nd - 6th June before tour begins 9th June - 19th December. During this period 'Exploshine' will tour for 19 weeks to 70 school/community venues across the UK, with performances usually taking place 3 times a day at the same venue. Dates for this tour are: (These dates could be subject to slight changes). Please let us know in your application if there are any dates within this period that you would be unavailable for. We would be interested to hear from applicants who are available for either the whole tour or individual legs as this role could be a job share. Within these dates you will be staying away Monday - Fridays and one weekend a month, living in the same accommodation as the rest of the creative team. Rehearsals will take place in Canterbury, Kent and weekly tour departure will be from Upminster, Essex. The role is paid £601 per week with accommodation and food costs being covered additionally. The daily rate for additional rehearsal days will be £133. Job Requirements Must be over 25 years old due to vehicle insurance requirements The ideal candidate must be a confident driver and hold a clean, valid UK driving license. Experience driving larger vehicles and long distances is essential, as you will be responsible (along with 2 relief drivers) for driving the tour team and show set in a large car to destinations around the UK. Experience touring is preferred and working as part of a small team on tours Experience with young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities or special educational needs is preferred but not essential. Ability to communicate clearly and work well under pressure The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check. Driving responsibilities will include: You will be responsible for driving the performers and set in a large car around the UK. You will have 2 relief drivers and driving times will be agreed upon before the beginning of each week. Stage Managing responsibilities will include: Communicating with lead contacts on arrival at venues and ensuring the smooth running of the agreed timetable Assist in the get-ins and get-outs and resetting the space between performances Ensure the performance space is ready ahead of welcoming the audience in Operating the sound and lighting during performances Assess the performance area for risks Ensuring set and props are ready for each performance If you’re interested in this role please contact us by emailing [email protected] with a CV and short Cover Letter telling us a bit about yourself and what interested you in this role.
