Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a confident and creative Sales Designer to join our growing stained-glass studio. This role combines customer-facing sales with design-led problem solving, guiding customers from first enquiry through to final order. Working as part of a team of enthusiastic experts.

Job Description

The Sales Designer is an office-based role working from our Penge (SE20) studio and workshop. You will be the main point of contact for customers enquiring about bespoke stained glass, helping them explore ideas, styles, and budgets and turning enquiries into clearly specified projects.

You will communicate with customers in person, over the phone, and by email, hosting them in our workshop when needed and guiding them through the design and purchasing process. You will create initial stained glass concepts using loose sketches or digital mockups, prepare quotations, and present clear, professional proposals.

Working closely with our post-sales and production teams, you will ensure designs, specifications, and communications are accurate and clearly handed over for manufacture and installation.

The role is full time, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm. As we operate Monday to Saturday, some flexibility with working days is expected. As with any sales role, reasonable out-of-hours availability may occasionally be required to support customers and maximise opportunities.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will be highly motivated, self-directed, and comfortable managing their own workload while working as part of a collaborative team. You should have a strong customer-facing or sales background, supported by confidence when dealing with customers.

Good visual or design ability is important, although stained glass experience is not required. Experience with Adobe Illustrator, CAD, or similar design software is highly desirable. You should also have strong computer skills and be comfortable using business systems; experience with Xero accounting software and ClickUp project and task management software is an advantage.

You must be organised, target driven, and comfortable working with homeowners and high-value bespoke projects. A positive attitude, attention to detail, and an interest in architecture or design will be highly valued.

Job Responsibilities

  • Communicating with customers by phone, email, and in person

  • Hosting customers at the workshop to discuss ideas, styles, and budgets

  • Producing initial stained glass design concepts (sketches or digital mockups)

  • Explaining options clearly and preparing detailed specifications

  • Preparing competitive, commercially sound pricing and delivering sales pitches

  • Following up enquiries and closing sales

  • Maintaining accurate and well-organised records

  • Working closely with the production team to ensure clear internal communication

  • Assisting walk-in hobby and trade glass customers

  • Maintaining a welcoming, professional, and presentable storefront
