Job Summary

We are looking to for two violinists, one viola and one cello to play at Brighton Festival and help create our unique classical orchestra (called 'candlelight orchestra'), which enjoys playing creative arrangements of piano concertos with award-winning pianists by candlelight.

Job Description

You would be booked to perform six shows at the Brighton Festival Fringe 2026:

The six concerts (lasting one hour) will take place at St Paul's Church, West Street, Brighton BN1 2RE on:
Tuesday 6th May 2026 @ 7.15pm - 8.15pm
Friday 8th May @ 7.15pm - 8.15pm
Saturday 9th May @ 7.15pm - 8.15pm
Friday 15th May @ 8.30pm - 9.30pm
Saturday 16th May @ 7.15pm - 9.30pm (*double bill)

You must be available for ALL dates.

There will also be a rehearsal (date and location tbc)

Fringe Classics is an international performing arts company that exports classical music to fringe festivals around the world. We organise 200+ performances every year across UK, USA and Australia in partnership with the Edinburgh, Brighton (UK), Adelaide, Melbourne (Australia) and Hollywood (USA) Fringe Festivals.

Job Requirements

To be able to play chamber music with a pianist (specifically, fun and creative arrangements of piano concertos as chamber music). Good sight-reading is expected.

Job Responsibilities

Contract: Freelance
Fee: £468.77 (12 hours work in total; 6 hours performing and four hours rehearsing; rate of pay: £46.87 per hour)

You MUST own and be able to transport your own instrument to the venue.
