Kate Prince’s SYLVIA, the hip-hop, funk and soul musical about Suffragette Sylvia Pankhurst, is embarking on a 7 week UK Tour in Autumn 2026, rounded off with 5 performances at London’s Royal Albert Hall!
The Stage Manager will have a track on the show, and will be responsible for managing and running performances. The Stage Management team will consist of a Company Manager, Stage Manager, Deputy Stage Manager, and two Assistant Stage Managers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To work with the Production Manager, Company Manager, and Heads of Technical Departments to manage the technical maintenance costs and set up of the Production in rehearsal and during the run.
- Ensure the smooth running of rehearsals, technical rehearsals, performances, fit ups and get outs, leading the Stage Management Team.
- Perform a stage management track for each performance, and cover other stage management tracks as required.
- Manage all backstage and onstage areas during performances.
- Manage show resets and pre-sets.
- To attend production meetings as requested.
- To deal with any general prop and set maintenance that may be required and to be responsible for day to day maintenance of the set and props with the Assistant Stage Managers.
- To deputise for the Company Manager where required.
- Support and train the Assistant Stage Managers.
- To liaise with venues on technical requirements.
- Manage the Stage Management team during fit-ups and load-outs.
- To communicate effectively with the Company Manager, Production Manager, General Management, and all other team members.
- To ensure the welfare and safety of the company and staff at all times
- To lead on instilling an inclusive culture in the company.
- To manage and be responsible for the health and safety of the company and any persons that may be on stage for or as part of the Production, including the venue staff in accordance with the Health and Safety policies of the producer.
And to carry out all other duties normally associated with the role of Stage Manager on a first-class musical.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Stage Manager experience on large-scale and/or touring productions.
- A good working of Health & Safety legislation.
- Demonstrable practical skills in prop and set maintenance.
- Proactive and energetic, able to work with commitment and dedication to find solutions.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and organise teams.
- Flexible, proactive, and self-motivated, with the ability to work collaboratively with artists and staff.
- A calm and practical approach to technical trouble-shooting.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- A desire to work in and uphold an actively anti-racist and inclusive working environment.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
