TEACHER OF ENGLISH - (0.5) Maternity Post - REF 250167

Up to £24,156 p.a. (FTE up to £48,309 p.a.)

18.5 hours per week

Fixed term maternity cover

We are seeking an exceptional teacher to join the School of English, Languages, and Classics. The ideal candidate will be flexible and capable of teaching A Levels in English Combined and English Language. Additionally, there may be a requirement to teach GCSE English Language resit classes. You will require a degree in a relevant subject area and a proven track record of delivering high-quality English provision at KS4 and KS5.

The School of English, Languages, and Classics is a large and successful department. In addition to our A Levels in English and GCSE resit programme, we offer A Levels in Classical Civilisation, French, Spanish, and German, as well as various Functional English Skills courses at Entry Level 3, Level 1, and Level 2. Many of our English courses exceed national benchmarks, and we consistently achieve high levels of student satisfaction in our learner surveys.

We are looking for a dedicated English teacher who can design and deliver creative and impactful lessons, taking a student-centred approach to learning.

Job Requirements

The role requires GCSE Maths and English Grade A*/9 - C/4 or equivalent, a relevant degree, and a teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent), or willingness to obtain one. Recent CPD engagement is desirable. Essential skills include successful teaching experience, ability to design and deliver creative lessons, a learner-centred approach, and excellent IT skills. Personal attributes include a passion for education, alignment with Runshaw College values, a positive and enthusiastic attitude, initiative, organisational skills, and commitment to CPD. Applicants must demonstrate strong communication, attention to detail, high standards, teamwork, and a commitment to equal opportunities and quality assurance. The role requires suitability to work with children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
