Job Summary

DEM Productions is currently recruiting for a Tech Swing to join the production team for THE CODE at Southwark Playhouse Elephant this Summer/Autumn 2025.

Job Description

Starring Olivier Award-winner Tracie Bennett and star of stage and screen John Partridge, and directed by Tony-nominee Christopher Renshaw, THE CODE lays bare the unspoken rules of Hollywood, then and now: a world where image still shapes opportunity, where authenticity is curated and identity remains politicised. Dates:
Tech Swing First Rehearsal: 8th September 2025
Technical Rehearsals: 9th-11th September 2025
First Performance: 12th September 2025
Official Opening Performance: 17th September 2025
Final Performance: 11th October 2025

Salary:
£550-£650, depending on experience

Job Requirements

  • Previous experience as part of the SM team on a play of this nature;
  • Clear, confident communication skills, and ability to liaise effectively with other departments;
  • Detail-orientated, organised, with excellent initiative;
  • Excellent relationship and interpersonal skills, the ability to work well as part of a team and with others;
  • Ability to remain focused and calm when under pressure;
  • Ability to adapt quickly and work to changed priorities in a fast-paced environment;
  • Highly motivated and positive; and
  • Knowledge of relevant current health and safety legislation.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assisting the CSM in the smooth running of rehearsals, technical and dress rehearsals, and performances, ensuring creative team and company are suitability supported;
  • Ensuring stage and rehearsal environments are set-up and maintained as required with appropriate set, props, costume, etc.;
  • Supporting the CSM with the maintenance of props;
  • Supporting the stage management team during get-in, technical rehearsals, and get-out;
  • Carrying out daily setup, assisting in the maintenance of stage pre-sets including all mechanical elements of the set;
  • Assisting the Wardrobe department with laundry where required;
  • Covering the CSM's stage track for the production, and learning the book to provide cover for the DSM as required;
  • Working in accordance with the Producer's Health and Safety policy, using appropriate safety equipment and clothing; and
  • Any other duties as can reasonably be expected of a Tech Swing on a production of this nature
