Job Description
The Technical ASM will work closely with the Technical Manager and Stage Manager (on Book) to support the technical delivery and smooth running of the production throughout the rehearsal period and UK tour.
The Paper Birds work in line with ITC Fair Work Agreements. The current 2026/27 ITC/Bectu minimum rate for a trained professional is £631per week, with the appropriate grade and rate confirmed in the contract. The production will follow the relevant agreement in relation to working hours, rest, travel, accommodation, holiday pay and applicable allowances.
Where the role requires relocation or overnight stays, applicable travel, accommodation and subsistence arrangements will be provided in line with the relevant agreement. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.Job Requirements
Has professional theatre experience, ideally in stage management or touring roles.
Is confident with practical theatre work and working as part of a small team.
Is organised, reliable and proactive.
Has a good understanding of theatre health and safety.
Is comfortable working flexibly across different venues.
Is able to work calmly in a fast-paced environment.
Has good communication and interpersonal skills.
Is happy to get stuck in and support the wider touring company.
Full driving licence for the UKJob Responsibilities
Covering the operation of live captions and audience interaction systems during the performances in the absence of the Assistant Stage Manager/Captioner.
Assisting with get-ins, fit-ups, rehearsals and get-outs.
Supporting the touring team with the setup and reset of the production in each venue.
Assisting with the smooth running of performances.
Delivering practical stage management tasks where required.
Oversee laundry duties during the tour and liaising with Technical Manager on any costume maintenance where required.
Helping maintain production equipment and ensuring that the touring kit is kept organised and in good working order.
Liaising with venue technicians as directed by the Technical Manager.
Assisting with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
Supporting safe working practices during get-ins, performances and get-outs.Useful Links
