The Technical Manager is a member of the Senior Management team The Technical Manager is responsible for all technical and maintenance departments of the Theatre, their financial control, staffing and effective operation, and line management of the Technical Staff of the building. The principal responsibilities are as follows: 1. Direct Line management of the Technicians and Freelancers 2. Liaising and Advancing with incoming companies, regarding: Oversee scheduling of staff to ensure the needs of the theatre are met effectively and efficiently via a Rota system Compile and update Technical Information packs for upload to the website for incoming touring shows to download Create and Deliver Event Schedules for all events being produced at South Mill Arts. This information is then shared with the FOH and Technical teams. 3. Oversight of all productions at South Mill Arts, including liaison with, and support for, the creative teams, attending production meetings, scheduling, and staffing. 4. Identifying, costing, and managing technical building improvement projects 5. Compiling and managing a list of Freelance Technicians 7. Managing Technical equipment and maintenance budgets for South Mill Arts and arranging quote/invoices/payments as required. 8. Liaising with Artistic Programmer around Calendars and Events as required. 9. Liaising with Event Manager around Calendars and Events as required.10. Arranging and confirming technical requirements with clients via site visits. 11. Technical Training to Technicians as required (as per recruitment section) 12. Arranging PD for Technical team as required 13. Arrange any F&B rider requirements for Promotional clients Health and Safety Managing the South Mill Arts Risk Assessment. Ensuring Permits to Work are completed when applicable. (Including, IPAF, First Aid, Working at heights) Recruitment Recruitment of technical department staff and induction. Closing Date: 05/03/2026 at 5pm Other Duties Attendance at Staff and Team meetings As a staff member of South Mill Arts, through his/her duty of care ensuring that the working environment and practices conform to Health and Safety legislation and the South Mill Arts Health, Safety and Environmental Policies Act as a First Aider, Fire Marshall or Duty Technician when required. To assist FOH with standing events and be onsite with or without the Event Manager Assist with FOH department where required and in conjunction with Event Manager This Role is a permanent role set at 35 hours per week.
