Job Description

Brief : Dash Arts is searching for a London-based Company Stage Manager for the premiere production of The Reckoning, in a world premiere at Arcola Theatre (Studios 2).

The cast is made up of 4 actors, two British, two Ukrainian (English speaking). There will also be one understudy who will switch out with one of the Ukrainian actors towards the end of the run. The full company list is further below for reference.

We are looking for a friendly, competent and enthusiastic person to join the stage management team, alongside an already confirmed DSM. The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, particularly as our cast & creatives are international.

Dates of Employment: 5th May-28th June

Rate: £625/week

Venue: Arcola Theatre (Studio 2, capacity 100)

Rehearsals 3 weeks from 5th May (Mon- Fr only), Arcola Rehearsal Room 2 Get-in: Monday 26 May

Tech: 27 May

Dress: 28 May

1st Preview: 29 May

Press Night: 2, 3, or 4 June (tbc)

Last show: 28 June

Performances Mon - Sat at 7pm with matinees on Sat 3:30pm

A simple summer salad is prepared onstage by the actors throughout the performance, and gets shared alongside with some bread at the end with the audience - we are still deciding on the best way to do this, as it will likely involve the SM team doing a pre-prepared version. Our DSM holds a food certificate, and we are being advised by a professional Ukrainian chef. Taking an appropriate food handling course may be required by the Manager, at the expense of the Manager if not already holding one.

At the end of each performance, audiences are invited to hear a short (10-min) reflection from expert speakers, journalists, lawyers, and those with lived experience of the conflict. Titled Foodfor Thought, this series widens the conversation, and provides more context to the themes of the play. Based on a pre-agreed set-up, the SM team will ensure each reflection is recorded audio and visually, and the files are logged appropriately.
