Dance City is seeking a dynamic, organised, and people-focused Operations and Cafe Assistant to support the smooth day-to-day running of our cafe, front-of-house services, and wider organisational operations. This multi-faceted role is ideal for someone with experience in catering, customer service, administration, and facilities support, who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. You'll play a key role in delivering excellent service to our diverse community, while contributing to our mission to promote dance across the North East and beyond.

Job Requirements

Experience in catering, front of house, and volunteer coordination. Commercially aware with knowledge of food hygiene, health & safety, cultural diets, safeguarding, data protection, and EDI. Skilled in supplier management, budgeting, and financial systems. Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook) with willingness to learn internal systems. Highly organised, detail-focused, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Confident decision-maker with initiative and excellent rapport-building skills across diverse groups. Positive, enthusiastic team player with flexibility, self-discipline, and a strong commitment to CPD and continuous improvement. First Aid and Fire Warden trained or willing to train.

Job Responsibilities

Support kitchen and caf operations, delivering excellent customer service and adhering to food hygiene and H&S standards. Complete daily compliance checks and assist volunteers. Handle general admin, diary management, meeting prep, building tours, rota scheduling, and event coordination. Manage customer and supplier enquiries, update websites/socials, and act as FOH manager. Maintain building standards and log facility issues. Support H&S practices, risk assessments, and equipment maintenance. Process sales, manage cashing up, invoices, budgets, and petty cash. Coordinate volunteer activity, staff inductions, and promote EDI. Manage GDPR-compliant data, generate reports, create surveys, and ensure IT system accuracy. Support governance reporting, uphold quality standards, contribute strategically, and assist in manager's absence. Embrace sustainability, financial compliance, and continuous improvement.
