Job Summary

Ruth Miskin Training creates high-quality films to teach children and provide continuous professional development for schools using the Read Write Inc. programmes. The films are used on Ruth Miskin Training’s Online Subscription with over 4,000 subscribing schools, and in face-to-face training.

Job Description

Reporting to: Head of Creative
Place of work: In schools across UK and remotely from home
Working days: 4 or 5 days per week depending on contract (specific days may vary depending on filming needs/days)
Hours of work: Office days - 8.30 to 17.00 (1 hour for lunch)
Filming days - as required
Contract: Full time or part time (4 days a week), 1 year fixed

Person Specification:
Friendly, reliable and proactive with a solution-based attitude to filming and a creative approach to editing. Works well as part of a team and independently. Makes others, especially children, feel comfortable and relaxed.

Whilst every effort has been made to explain the main duties and responsibilities of the post, each individual task undertaken may not be identified. The Videographer will be expected to comply with any reasonable request from the Head of Creative and senior management team to undertake work of a similar level that is not specified in this job description. This job description may be amended at any time following discussion between the Videographer and Head of Creative.

Job Requirements

Skills and qualities required for the role

Essential:
-Friendly and confident with the ability to maintain good working relationships with colleagues and teachers in schools
-Enjoys working with children with ability to make them feel at ease
-Experience editing with a high level of precision
-Great attention to detail
-Creative problem-solving skills
-Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
-Fluent in English.

Desirable:
-Experience filming on location, managing multi-camera sets.
-Experience using a motion graphics editor.
-Experience producing content for social media platforms.
-Experience working with Adobe creative suite.

Job Responsibilities

Job Specification

From Home:
-Edit footage to create content for training, websites and social media.
-Liaise with Film Lead and Content Coach to make edits to films.
-Work with Content Coach to understand activities and plan the best way to film them.
-Upload films to Vimeo.
-Liaise with Film Team Project Manager and Content Coach to schedule filming.
-Arrange travel as required.
-Maintain and organise equipment for filming.

In Schools:
-Film lessons and activities in schools across the UK.
-Travel and overnight stays frequently required (expenses paid).
-Ensure classrooms are suitable for filming.
-Support Content Coach in preparation for filming.
-Direct pupils during filming when needed.
