Job Summary

As our new Visitor Engagement Manager, you will ensure we continue to make a real difference to our vibrant and diverse community!

Job Description

Gunnersbury Museum & Park Development Trust exists to provide community benefit including the advancement of education and promotion of social welfare by the effective management, conservation and interpretation of the Gunnersbury Park Museum collections.

As the Visitor Engagement Manager, you will have the unique opportunity to shape how we engage our visitors and make a real difference in our communities. You will be responsible for creating and managing visitor experiences, including providing a warm welcome to our NPO-class museum, tours, and other activities across the estate.

In this dynamic and influential role, the Visitor Experience Manager at Gunnersbury Park and Museum will lead initiatives designed to make every visitor's experience exceptional, placing Gunnersbury's unique heritage, inclusivity, and community impact at the heart of their work.

As part of a small, dedicated team across the charity and its trading subsidiary, you will collaborate closely with colleagues to ensure that each decision prioritises a welcoming, engaging, and inclusive visitor experience. This role involves overseeing the creation and delivery of visitor-centred activities and programs, from warm welcomes at our NPO-class museum to tailored tours and engaging events across the park's diverse landscape.

Job Requirements

A core responsibility will be to conduct a comprehensive Visitor Experience Audit, providing insights to motivate and develop our staff and volunteers, ultimately enhancing the attraction, accessibility, and educational value of Gunnersbury for every guest.

The Visitor Experience Manager will lead the transformation of the Visitor Services Team, expanding beyond museum services to fully leverage the estate's heritage, its diversity of attractions and its commitment to engaging all visitors. You will be instrumental in fostering a supportive environment for volunteers by collaborating with the volunteer manager to advance our volunteer program and achieve Investing in Volunteers accreditation, the UK's quality standard in volunteer management.

Job Responsibilities

This role will involve close oversight of the Public Programme, working with the Commercial Team to identify opportunities while preserving the park's accessibility and community appeal. The Visitor Experience Manager will engage proactively with local communities, leading consultations, hosting discussion panels, and gathering insights that ensure community enjoyment and active involvement in shaping the Gunnersbury experience. Additionally, you will engage and collaborate with external partners and stakeholders, building strategic relationships to expand the estate's appeal to a broader demographic and drive initiatives that enrich the community and highlight Gunnersbury's unique cultural value.
