Our Museum was started by local people and volunteers continue to be at its heart. They play every role that they can to keep the Museum running. They work in Reception, in interpreting the galleries and in catering. They help maintain the grounds and buildings, they work with schools and on the Collection. . We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and organised person with a strong background in working with people and motivating them to work together to achieve agreed aims. This role will require an understanding of the unique role that volunteers play at Milton Keynes Museum and a well-developed ability to engage, motivate and manage this key group of people. It needs leadership. The Volunteer Officer will: The role requires flexibility, spreading the 37.5 hours working across weekdays, evenings and weekends to ensure all volunteers are supported. Knowledge, Experience and Skills Essential Experience of working in a visitor focused organisation. Experience of working with a range of volunteers, each with their own needs. Excellent team working, and organisational skills. Energetic self-starter with a strong work ethic. Administrative experience with a high level of computer literacy. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Desirable Evidence of experience of developing and delivering training and events, including partnership working. Evidence of success in recruiting and supporting volunteers. Previous experience of working with volunteers in a museum or heritage environment. Knowledge of wider context of volunteering and best practice, including relevant legislation. Knowledge of fron-of-house and visitor experience training.
