The Wardrobe Assistant will work collaboratively within the Wardrobe department and alongside other technical teams, supporting the creative team and company, to facilitate and manage the realisation of the costume elements of Hadestown at the Lyric Theatre. Initially a full-time fixed term contract, starting w/c 17 August 2026 until 01 August 2027 (inclusive). Previous experience of wardrobe maintenance, repair work and dressing actors on productions of different scale and type. Previous experience on a medium or large-scale West End production or in a similar professional environment is essential. Excellent sewing skills and working knowledge of theatre costume. Flexible and self-motivated approach with the ability to support colleagues and acting company and to form excellent working relationships. To be able to work calmly under pressure and clearly demonstrate an empathy with the pressures of the backstage performance environment. An excellent communicator and listener. Fair, caring, firm, resilient, and with the ability to manage creative individuals and large teams. Personable. Able to demonstrate warmth and discretion. Ability to work under minimum supervision and adapt work in accordance with performance requirements. A desire to work in and uphold an actively anti-racist and inclusive working environment. To provide support to the Head of Wardrobe and Wardrobe Deputy in the performance of their duties and to deputise and cover in their absence. To assist with the wardrobe maintenance on the production. To work with the Head of Wardrobe and Wardrobe Deputy to maintain the costumes and accessories to the standard required by the Costume Designer and Costume Supervisor. To assist with the cleaning and laundering of all costumes in the manner and frequency required to maintain the appearance of the costumes, including the use of outside dry cleaning if necessary.
