Reporting to: Artistic Director & Stage Manager Time commitment: see below (approximately 29 in total days including travel days March-July 2026). Daily rate: £175 per performance day (8 hours), £50 per washing day (1/2 day), £50 per travel day (up to 4 hours) Contract type: Freelance

Job Description

Cassa Pancho's Ballet Black is an award-winning touring ballet company founded in 2001. We tour the UK, delivering 20-35 performances per season (approximately March-November). We are seeking a new Wardrobe Manager for our Spring 2026 tour, and beyond. Suitable candidates will be knowledgeable in all of the skills listed below, will be flexible about hours and working in the evening, and on location, and will understand that working as part of a small touring team (1 technical manager, 11 dancers, 1 stage manager and 2 artistic staff on tour) will involve pitching in across costumes and props where necessary. Above all, we are looking for a motivated self-starter who can be calm under pressure.

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of one years' relevant experience, preferably in a touring environment.
  • Experience of working with costumes for dance, or relevant transferable experience.
  • Costume construction knowledge and making skills.
  • A flexible approach to working (regular evening and weekend working is required).
  • Comfortable touring (UK and International).
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to work under your own initiative.
  • Good interpersonal skills.

A London-based candidate is preferred as this is where the Company is based.

28th February - 7th March: Linbury Theatre (including tech rehearsals)

14th April: The Lowry, Manchester (travel on the 13th and 15th April)

1st-2nd May: Oxford Playhouse (travel on the 1st and 2nd)

8th May: Leeds Playhouse (travel on the 7th and 9th May)

18th-23rd May: Hackney Empire. (including tech rehearsal)

9th June: Wolverhampton (travel on the 9th and 10th)

19th June: Edinburgh (travel on the 18th and 20th)

8th -9th July Grange Festival

Job Responsibilities

JOB SPECIFICATION

On Tour

  • Ensure smooth and efficient running of all costume and wardrobe related tasks at the theatre.
  • Prepare costumes (ironing, laundering, repairing) for each performance as required.
  • Be available backstage at stage rehearsals and performances to assist with quick changes.
  • Attend to all repairs or costume alterations.
  • Ensure costumes are delivered to appropriate dressing rooms or stage manager in time for rehearsals/performances.
  • Collecting all items of costume after a performance, ensuring they are packed and returned to flight cases where necessary.
  • Managing the laundering of costumes between shows.
  • Take responsibility for costumes between performances (laundering, necessary repairs) and responsible for bringing costumes to each tour date.

General Responsibilities

  • Management and maintenance of costume and wardrobe stock.
  • Manage costume storage on tour.
  • Create costume list and information packs for washing/care.
  • Maintenance of wardrobe equipment.
