Job Summary

DEM Productions is currently recruiting for a Wigs & Wardrobe Manager to join the production team for THE CODE at Southwark Playhouse Elephant this Summer/Autumn 2025.

Job Description

Starring Olivier Award-winner Tracie Bennett and star of stage and screen John Partridge, and directed by Tony-nominee Christopher Renshaw, THE CODE lays bare the unspoken rules of Hollywood, then and now: a world where image still shapes opportunity, where authenticity is curated and identity remains politicised. Dates:
Wigs & Wardrobe Manager First Rehearsal: 8th September 2025
Technical Rehearsals: 9th-11th September 2025
First Performance: 12th September 2025
Official Opening Performance: 17th September 2025
Final Performance: 11th October 2025

Salary:
£650-£750, depending on experience

Job Requirements

  • Supporting the wardrobe and wigs operations as instructed and dictated by the artistic requirements and direction of the production;
  • Preparation and maintenance of all costumes, wigs and equipment required, including checks prior to each performance;
  • Laundry duties including ironing;
  • Assisting the construction of costume pieces, to include sewing duties, tailoring, and other haberdashery, in communication with the Costume Designer and Costume Supervisor;
  • Supporting the company with the fitting of wigs on a daily basis (there will be one wig worn in the production);
  • Complying with and promoting any applicable policies, procedures, and rules of the Producer including but not limited to evacuation procedures, and health and safety policies; and
  • Any other duties as can reasonably be expected of a Wigs and Wardrobe Manager on a production of this nature.

Job Responsibilities

  • Experience in a theatre wardrobe and wigs department;
  • Excellent hand and machine sewing skills;
  • Experience with styling and dressing wigs;
  • Experience with putting on and removing wigs;
  • Clear, confident communication skills, and ability to liaise effectively with other departments in a fast-paced environment;
  • Excellent relationship and interpersonal skills, the ability to work well as part of a team and with others;
  • Ability to remain focused and calm when under pressure;
  • Highly motivated and positive; and
  • Familiarity with and adherence to current Health & Safety guidelines relevant to the production.
