Be part of York's new summer sculpture trail Make It York is inviting artists from across the UK to get involved in a new city-wide sculpture trail running from 29 June to 31 August 2026. We're looking for artists to bring to life new stone guardian sculptures for a small, carefully curated trail of 10 works across the city. Each guardian will be linked to its location and inspired by York's history, character and everyday life. Guardians may include figures such as The Timekeeper, The Archivist, The Gardener of the Walls, The Merchant and The River Watcher. Selected artists will receive a £1,000 commission fee to bring their design to life and be part of the Watchers of York Trail, working alongside community groups, charities and students. Developed in collaboration with York Minster and launching alongside the legendary York Mystery Plays, this carefully curated summer trail offers a unique opportunity in one of the UK's most historic cities.
