The We Are Merton Performance Trail: Told by the people who call Merton Home is a major creative opportunity within the London Borough of Merton's Cultural Impact Award programme. Across summer 2027, we're inviting residents and artists to come together to create six powerful new stories, one for each of Merton's vibrant town centres: Mitcham, Morden, Pollards Hill, Colliers Wood, Wimbledon and Raynes Park. Through co-creation and community storytelling, these performances will bring each area's character, heritage and hidden voices to life, celebrating what makes every corner of Merton truly unique. We are seeking an individual producer, or a consortium of organisations and/or producers, who are either based in Merton or have an existing track record of delivering work in the borough. Together, the work will explore themes of community, identity, and connection in Merton today. Performances will form part of a borough-wide trail taking place across the summer of 2027, a celebration of storytelling through movement, music, words, and community spirit. Activities may unfold over several weeks or be concentrated into a few days, depending on each project's design. There is £30k available for the entire project, inclusive of a £1k R&D fee allocation. Match funding is encouraged but not required. You can apply if you: are based in Merton, or have a strong track record of delivering work in the borough, have at least 3 years' experience in participatory or community-led arts, have experience working collaboratively with residents, can deliver high-quality public performances. Partnerships and consortiums are welcome, but the lead applicant must be Merton-based or Merton-connected. Please see Merton's Cultural Impact Award's webpage to see the full brief of this project, as well as more details on the application process.
