Description

Job Description

Newham Council is inviting proposals from website developers to create a website for our new cultural hub, Newham Heritage Centre. The new website will be the digital 'shop front' of the project and will widen public access to the Council's archive and museum collections, showcasing Newham's extraordinary heritage and highlight activities ranging from exhibitions, events and projects. The website should be dynamic and creative, while providing visitors with a user-friendly experience and key information about Newham Heritage Centre, presented with accessibility and inclusion at its heart.

Newham Council is undertaking a project to transform the much-loved Grade II listed Canning Town Old Library into Newham Heritage Centre. Upon completion in 2027 it will contain an exhibition space, a reading room, state-of-the art archive storage, a digital media suite, event space and a caf . The Newham Heritage Centre website will serve many purposes including raising awareness of the centre and ongoing programmes and providing a platform for Newham Council to showcase its historic collections online.

This project forms part of Building Newham's Creative Future Newham Council's 15-year cultural strategy and other Council priorities.

Job Requirements

- An awareness of NLHF-funded projects.

- Demonstrable experience of managing projects to deliver agreed milestones on time and within budget.

Job Responsibilities

- Create and implement a costed project plan to deliver the website on time and on budget.

- Conduct consultation with stakeholders, including end users to get a comprehensive understanding of their requirements. This can be carried out to a limited extent during Phase 1 of the project, but more extensive user testing and development should occur during Phase 2. This should include testing of the integrated Cataloguing Management System. Multiple rounds of testing and development are expected before Phase 2 launch. We will work with you to identify specific user groups that should be targeted.

- Work with the Council's Digital, Data and Technology service to develop the website.
