About the role Join the Bodleian Law Library Team as a Weekend Assistant Librarian! The Bodleian Law Library is one of the largest academic law libraries in the country, and provides services to readers from the University, wider academia, and the legal profession. You will be responsible for the Bodleian Law Library's services at weekends, and work as one of the senior library staff on Mondays contributing to planning and developing our library services. You will line manage a small team, answer enquiries, and provide a high-quality legal reference service to a broad range of Library users. This is a permanent part-time, term-time only position, working onsite 25 hours per week during the University term. This role does not support remote working. This role involves working at heights, lone working and regular manual handling. About You You will be professionally qualified librarian (or have equivalent experience) and have experience of working in an academic or legal library environment. You will have excellent IT skills and familiarity with library catalogues and online resources. You will have experience of supervising staff, a commitment to good customer care, strong collaborative skills and proven ability to work independently and prioritise workloads. Knowledge of European languages is desirable. Knowledge of European languages is desirable. -Academic Services: Manage the Library at the weekends, and take charge at other times, as required; Responsible for the security of the library at weekends, opening and closing procedures; working with the Porter on duty in dealing with any unusual or emergency situations. Contribute to the planning and development of library services through membership of relevant Law Library teams, which may include the Communications Team. -Staff Management: Line management of the Weekend Team including annual reviews, organising regular meetings; Manage and develop and document efficient work flow practices in the Weekend Team whilst ensuring that internal and external approved standards are met. Recruit and develop staff, in co-operation with the senior Law Library staff. -Service Delivery: Answer enquiries and provide expert reference advice and assistance to library users. Responsible for maintaining a professional and well-ordered library environment, in accordance with Bodleian Regulations.
