The Olivier Award nominated courtroom production of Agatha Christie’s Witness for the Prosecution is looking for an experienced Wigs, Hair and Make Up Manager to join the team.

Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To be responsible for Wigs, Hair and Make-Up (WHAM) on the show.
  • To ensure that the agreed wigs, hair and make-up designs and requirements are maintained throughout the run of the production.
  • To manage and be responsible for the pre-show hair styling and makeup requirements of the company.
  • To run the WHAM track during performances.
  • Maintaining high standards of presentation for the cast wigs.
  • Being responsible for the maintenance of the understudy wigs and their subsequent presentation when they are required.
  • To liaise with the Company Stage Manager to coordinate any external haircuts, if required.
  • To maintain necessary stock, consumables and equipment throughout and to manage the department's petty cash float.
  • Maintaining the 'show bible' including up-to-date character, design notes and images, show running/dressing notes, charts for make-up and special effects etc.
  • Being present at technical sessions during cast changeovers, alongside the Wigs, Hair & Make-Up Supervisor.
  • To lead, create and encourage a supportive and positive backstage environment for the full company.
  • To carry out all other duties normally associated with the role of a Wigs Hair & Make-up Manager on a first-class play.

Job Requirements

WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Proven experience in styling and dressing wigs and hair for live performance/theatre.
  • Proven experience working with a wide variety of hair types.
  • Relevant experience and technical ability in the application of make up for live performance/theatre.
  • Awareness of relevant health and safety legislation.
  • The ability to calmly and positively adapt work in accordance with creative/performance requirements.
  • The ability to work independently and under minimal supervision.
  • Good time management skills.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • The ideal candidate would have experience of hair cutting, although this is not essential.
