We are currently seeking a versatile Workshop Manager to lead our in-house workshop

Job Description

The Classic Prop Hire Company is a major prop hire group who are leading suppliers or props, set dressing and textiles to the film & TV industry.

Currently based in Southall, Greater London, we are looking to broaden and develop our workshop team as we prepare for an exciting relocation to South Hertfordshire (within zone 6)

The baseline salary for this role is £50,000, with the potential for a higher remuneration depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.

Job Requirements

Essential Requirements for Workshop Manager

  • Excellent woodworking skills and experience with a broad range of construction techniques

  • Significant experience in set and scenic construction or a similar industry

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Proven ability to effectively lead and motivate, while also encouraging autonomy within the team

  • Demonstrate independent working and the ability to drive a project to completion

  • Good decision-making and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances under pressure

  • Display strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities

Desirable Requirements

  • Knowledge of upholstery

  • Diploma in electrical installation

  • Experience in prop-making

Job Responsibilities

Workshop Manager Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair our vast stock of antique and modern furniture and accessories

  • Lead and manage the workshop team, supervising all work to ensure best practices in safety and quality

  • Oversee health and safety practices, including maintaining data sheets on all materials used in the workshop

  • Conduct and oversee all workshop-related risk assessments and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations

  • Provide training and guidance to the workshop team

  • Work with the Loss & Damage Coordinator to calculate repair costs for clients

  • Manage a workshop budget for all materials and keep accurate records of expenditure
