Job Description

Wrest Park is a magnificent house of the 1830s, set in an outstanding
restored garden landscape originating in the 17th century. For over 600 years it was home to one of the leading aristocratic families in the country.Today the site welcomes c.140,000 visitors a year to discover the 90 acres of beautiful gardens showcasing French, Dutch, Italian and English styles and to admire the opulently decorated state rooms of the French chateau-style mansion. There is a shop, four food and beverage outlets and a holiday cottage. Wrest Park also hosts an event and venue hire programme. You will support the management of a site team of c.250 staff and volunteers to deliver c.£1.7m income while managing an expenditure budget of c.£1.5m p.a.

As Wrest Park Supervisor, you'll know what excellent visitor experience looks like and will motivate your team to deliver. You'll be innovative in optimising every opportunity to generate income as well as achieving all site performance targets, including retail and membership, through target setting, training and coaching your team in active selling. You'll also be involved in engaging the local community with what's happening on site as well as championing inclusivity and diversity. Wrest Park is host to many events, venue hire and public programming activity as well as a popular holiday cottage and you will be responsible for supporting the smooth running of these whilst ensuring the daily operations are in hand. This role also encompasses following health and safety procedures and will be responsible for the safety and security of the historic site as well as those who work and visit.

We are looking for someone who can bring their experience of providing excellent customer service and strong staff supervisory skills as well as being able to work independently. You will be able to demonstrate exceptional organisational skills and also be a confident communicator, having strong interpersonal skills with both visitors and colleagues.

Job Requirements

We're looking for someone who has experience of:
working in a visitor facing operation.
supporting the management of staff to help deliver a consistently high
standard of visitor experience.
generating profit by meeting revenue targets and controlling costs.
You must be:
an effective communicator.
commited to continuous personal development.
anaylitical and numerate, with the ability to assimilate information
quickly and accurately.
comfortable using basic technology (such as EPOS systems and tills)
You must demonstrate our core behaviours of collaboration, innovation and empowerment by:
inspiring and motivating the employees and volunteers through your
leadership.
using a coaching style which develops high-performing teams and
individuals and which challenges those who are underperforming.
demonstrating commitment to the vision and the values of our charity.

Job Responsibilities

People
support the recruitment, induction and training of all property staff.
schedule shifts to meet the needs of your site and your staff.
help deliver the volunteer programme.
duty manage and line manage site staff, adopting a coaching and mentoring style.
Finance
support and take responsibility for the day-to-day financial
management of the site, performing the role of daily cashier and sub-
accountant as required.
motivating the team to achieve commercial targets.
assist with payroll budgeting and forecasting.
Compliance
make sure English Heritage safety and security checks are completed
on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
take on licensee duties for alcohol sales, if required

Visitor Experience
deliver an inspirational visitor experience through high standards of
presentation and customer service day-to-day and during all activity
champion the recruitment and retention of English Heritage members and maintain positive relationships with local stakeholders
