About Stomping Ground!
Stomping Ground! is a FREE programme of drop-in activity for young people aged 11 - 18 (up to 25 for those with SEND) from the Borough of Great Yarmouth, which celebrates and encourages participation in creative activity through seeing, making and doing.

The programme offers workshops and activities that are multi-artform (Visual Arts, Arts and Crafts, Audio Visual, Sound, Film, Music, Photography, Technology, Sports, etc.), youth-led, inclusive and accessible. We provide a safe space for young people to hang out, learn new skills and collaborate with professional artists.

Taking place every other Saturday and Wednesday. Wednesday sessions take place at Great Yarmouth Charter Academy from 4pm - 7pm. Saturday sessions take place at The Drill House from 1pm - 5pm.

Stomping Ground! - Youth Club Supervisor
This is an exciting opportunity for an organised, creative and reliable individual to join Out There Arts' delivery team, working on Stomping Ground!, our FREE creative programme of activity designed by and for young people. If you're enthusiastic, hard working and enjoy problem solving this could be the role for you.

The Youth Club Supervisor will be expected to lead on the set-up, delivery and pack down of the Stomping Ground! sessions. Supporting the Lead Artist in delivering creative workshops, whilst ensuring the overall smooth running of the event, and guiding participants to learn new skills and make the most of the creative activities on offer. Providing supervision for the children and young people taking part, creating an environment that is supportive, safe and secure.

This role would suit someone who has experience with facilitating creative workshops, running clubs or events and enjoys working with children and young people.

Fee: ÂŁ12.50 - ÂŁ15p/h (Depending on experience)

Hours: 24 hours per month, fortnightly sessions delivered on Wednesdays & Saturdays (6hrs per day)

Job Type: Freelance, contracted until May 2025

Job Requirements

Essential

  • Experience of working with children and young people aged 11 to 18
  • Understanding the varied needs of children and young adults
  • Understanding the process involved in the delivery high quality and engaging creative workshops
  • Experience of supervising large groups e.g. up to 30 children and young people
  • Experience of working with Artists and/or Creative Professionals
  • A passion for the arts and a keen interest in facilitating creative activities, ability to get stuck in and support work in a variety of art mediums
  • Provide and facilitate safe, creative, active learning opportunities
  • Clear, confident and warm communicator
  • Ability to work on own initiative, using judgement and common sense, improvise if needed
  • Enhanced DBS check (Valid within the last 3 years, if not currently held OTA can provide)
  • Safeguarding & Child Protection Training (Valid within the last 3 years, if not currently held OTA can provide)
  • Full Driving Licence and access to transport

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensuring workshops are running smoothly and helping participants to access the activities as and when required.
  • Assist Lead Artist with all aspects of the workshop being delivered. Helping to deliver a stimulating and diverse creative programme, providing positive experiences and interactions for all participants.
  • Setting up the workshops, laying out materials, including moving furniture and equipment, and clearing up after sessions.
  • Taking registers, keeping an up-to-date record of attendance and permission forms.
  • Dealing promptly with any safeguarding concerns or issues as they arise - reporting to the designated safeguarding lead for OTA and keeping a log of any incidents.
  • Dealing with Parent/Guardian enquiries.
  • Building good relationships with Parents/Guardians, Schools, Teachers, Artists, Volunteers and Participants.
  • Helping to promote Stomping Ground! through attending school assemblies and/or networking events. Signposting participants to weekday and weekend sessions
