Job Summary

We are looking for an exceptional facilitator to deliver a one-hour drama based workshop for children aged 4 – 7 on a Saturday morning.

Job Description

You may be an experienced youth theatre practitioner, a teacher looking for a creative outlet or an emerging leader who is looking to progress their skills. There is potential for further work with primary aged children depending on experience. We will consider applications from those with a range of experience as training can be provided for the right candidate.

Pay is £29 p/h (if a trainee if appointed this will be negotiated based on experience).

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • At least 2 years' experience working creatively with children in Foundation Stage or KS1. This may be as a leader or as an assistant.
  • A strong interest in drama/theatre for children and young people.
  • Degree in a theatre or education-based subject, teacher training or relevant practical experience.
  • A sound understanding of SEND.
  • Experience of directing young people in performance through directing or teacher in role.
  • A keen interest in theatre.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with young people, staff, parents and guardians.
  • A positive attitude, ability to adapt and be flexible and sense of humour.
  • A love of creative play.
  • An understanding and interest in outreach and community-based arts.

Job Responsibilities

Main Duties
- Planning, delivery and evaluation of drama-based workshops for 5-7 years.
- Develop young people's learning and development through creativity.
- Ability to adapt plans for children with additional learning needs. - Responsibility for the safeguarding of children during the session.
- Effective support of and use of assistant and volunteer within the workshop.
- Maintaining attendance records.
- Liaising with Creative Engagement Manager over planning and issues arising.

Trainees will be supported to build up to these skills.
