Job Summary

Hogarth Productions seeks a sound artist, designer or editor with collaborative experience to join a one-day symposium near Cambridge on 18 July. The event explores interdisciplinary approaches to creating an interactive sound installation. Applicants must be available on the 18th July

Job Description

Sound Playground is the working title of a new 3-phase project being developed by Hogarth Productions.

We are seeking a sound artist, sound designer or sound editor with experience in collaborative, cross-disciplinary work to join a one-day creative symposium near Cambridge.

By the end of phase 3, we will have developed an outdoor, interactive sculptural sound installation suitable for touring. In phase 1, we will gather together a diverse group of artists including visual artists, sound designers, contemporary dancers, programmers and fabricators for one day.

We will spend time understanding how technology can help us in the project, explore peoples' different disciplines, begin to perceive how the multi-disciplinary team might work together and consider how we can ensure that the work is accessible to people with disabilities and SEND participants.

The selected artist will be required to

  • Deliver a short presentation about their practice
  • Participate in group conversations to explore how their practice and technical expertise might integrate into this multi-disciplinary project.

You will receive a full brief in advance of the event.

We are open to a range of sound-based practices. In your covering letter, please let us know which tools, technologies or software you're familiar with.

We particularly welcome applications from:

  • Artists based in the East of England

  • Those who have worked collaboratively across disciplines

  • Artists who identify as disabled or have experience of SEND

Fee: £300 for the day plus a potential half day follow on one-to-one meeting if required
