Hoxton Hall is recruiting casual Duty Managers and Bar Supervisors to join our small and friendly events team.

Job Description

Job Title: Duty Manager

Responsible to: Programme Administrator and Head of Technical and Building

Pay: Duty Managers: £14.30 Per Hour + Holiday / Bar Supervisors: £14.00 Per Hour + Holiday

Hours: Minimum shift time is 4 hours, usually 6 hours. Minimum of 1 shift per month.

Start Date: From W/C 27 January 2026

You will take an active role in managing the smooth day-to-day running of the venue and the front of house team during the events. You will work closely with the Programme Administrator in coordinating and implementing the set-up, pack down and running of events. Duty Managers will act as the lead point of contact for visiting companies and the public during events, ensuring the highest standards of customer care and a safe environment for staff, companies, young people and audiences are maintained at all times.

Bar Supervisors have a responsibility to open the bars for events, manage the bar staff, keep track of stock and make sure that all bar operations run smoothly.

Post holders must be resourceful, energetic self-starters who require little supervision, are innovative and can adapt to any situation, with exceptional customer service skills and a can-do attitude.

You will be expected to work mainly evenings and weekends as part of the role.

Job Requirements

Require Experience:

  • Experience working in customer-facing roles, ideally in the art and culture sector
  • Experience managing staff and events, in a duty manager role or other.
  • Good with people and customer service
  • For Bar Supervisors- experience working in bars or service/hospitality positions.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience using ticketing platforms, we currently use TicketSolve.
  • Experience changing a keg and serving draft beer

Job Responsibilities

  • To act as Front of House Duty Manager for events working closely with the FOH Team, Technical Duty Manager and Visiting Companies.
  • To coordinate and supervise Front of House staff as required, including assigning shift roles, managing time sheets and ensuring staff compliance with the Hoxton Hall Front of House Handbook at all times.
  • To act as key holder of the building if required and ensure the building is properly secured.
  • To oversee the box office system and staff.
  • To assist with the collection and recording of monitoring information for events
  • This work will require regular late evening and weekend shifts.
  • Bar Supervisors: To open and close the bar appropriately, manage and keep stock tidy, delegate bar prep to bar staff.
  • Be aware and Enforce Challenge 25 and Ask for Angela policies
  • Change kegs for draft beer
  • Some events have unique bar set ups - requires flexibility

Duty Managers will be trained to do all positions, including Bar supervisors, VSAs and box office.
