Job Summary

Unique Venues Birmingham (UVB) is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead the delivery of all technical elements across our diverse portfolio of conferences, events, and hospitality activities within The REP and the Library of Birmingham.

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 40 hours per week, 5 days out of 7. Evening and weekend work will be required.

Salary: £37,000 per annum

Job Requirements

We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Technical Project Manager with exceptional planning, scheduling, and administrative skills. You'll bring a positive, professional attitude, excellent timekeeping, and strong reliability. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional anti-social hours is essential.

You will have extensive experience delivering live events and managing clients, contractors, budgets, and technical resources. Strong hands-on knowledge of AV, lighting, sound, hybrid/virtual conferencing platforms, and health & safety is required. Experience in customer-focused environments and an interest in theatre are highly desirable.

Job Responsibilities

In this key role, you will manage and coordinate all technical operations, ensuring exceptional customer service, high-quality event delivery, and safe working practices. You will lead a team of Technical Managers, technicians, freelancers, and casual staff, acting as the primary technical contact for clients throughout the planning and delivery process.

Working closely with the Sales & Events Office and the Hospitality Operations Manager, you will oversee technical scheduling, budgeting, equipment management, resource planning, and the safe set-up, running, and de-rig of events. You will also advise on technical elements during sales and planning stages, support cross-departmental communication, and drive efficiency and profitability through innovation, effective resource use, and the up-selling of technical services.
