The Imperial Lates are social, themed evenings where visitors explore the latest research at Imperial through interactive unique experiences. These evening events are aimed at young adult audiences (18-35), attracting around 750 visitors per event, many new to Imperial. This contract is ideal for a freelancer who combines creative programming skills with strong, large-scale event production experience, as well as excellent project management and communication skills. Working with the Public Engagement Programmes Coordinator & Adult Programming Lead, you will help curate and produce three Imperial Lates events (October, November and January). You'll contribute to creating engaging experiences that inspire the public about cutting-edge science, while also leading on elements of delivery. The role builds in responsibility over time, culminating in leading the full delivery of the January 2027 Lates event. Contract details Experience of the creative curation of events for a general public audience in response to a scientific theme Experience of leading the production and operational planning of large-scale public events - ordering equipment, planning floorplans, managing budgets, contracting freelancers, briefing staff and volunteers and security teams Experience of working in collaboration with researchers, academics or subject experts to create engaging activities for a range of audiences. Experience of supporting researchers of varied levels of experience in public engagement.
