Salary: £33,000
Full time fixed term contract until 31 January 2027
Location: Glasgow
Reporting to: Producer

Founded by Cathie Boyd, and based in Glasgow but with a global reach, Cryptic presents and promotes the most dynamic talents of today and tomorrow as they explore new dimensions in live music, visual and sonic arts and performance, and the weird and wild areas where these disciplines intersect and cross over.

Immersive Arts:

Immersive Arts will convene, commission and support a new wave of artists to make and share extraordinary immersive work. The programme brings together two universities, four producing venues and UK-wide expertise from organisations with specialist expertise around inclusion, training, showcasing and research. The partners Pervasive Media Studio (Watershed, UWE Bristol, University of Bristol, England), Wales Millennium Centre (Wales), Nerve Centre (Northern Ireland), Cryptic (Scotland), Crossover Labs (Sheffield), Unlimited, XR Diversity Initiative and Immerse UK - are united by an ongoing commitment to support artists and reach audiences while building equity in the sector.

This role is one of four nation-based Producers on the new Immersive Arts programme. You will work together to support artists who are experimenting with new technologies - paying attention to regional context while combining forces to offer a coherent range of opportunity across many geographies, artforms, ideas and career stages. You will be based at Cryptic's office at the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow, becoming part of the wider Cryptic team. The Immersive Arts Producer is responsible for the successful delivery of the programme across Scotland.

Job Requirements

  • Experience of producing projects with artists who are experimenting with new technologies, specifically with knowledge of virtual, augmented and extended reality in the creation of artwork.
  • Experience of relationship management and working within partnership projects
  • Experience of managing budgets
  • Good communication and networking skills in person, in writing and by telephone/online
  • Understanding of how artists work and the support that they need in developing new work

Job Responsibilities

  • First point of contact for artists based in Scotland, brokering connections and signposting opportunity
  • Drafting briefing documents for our opportunities and supporting the assessment process for artists applying to our opportunities
  • Producing workshops, training sessions, peer to peer networking and public sharing events
  • Leading relationships with the artists attached to Cryptic as a producing partner, helping them to define their vision, identify audiences and ensuring access to structured and bespoke support.
  • Managing the Cryptic delivery budget in dialogue with Programme Partners
  • Feeding in local context to national programme and learning from partners to evolve our own practice in line with the aims of the programme.
  • Working with the Research Team and partners to support the evaluation and learning outcomes
  • Represent Cryptic and the programme at events/receptions/conferences.
