Key Responsibilities: Work with other production departments to understand the overall creative vision and translate it into practical execution. Coordinate with Head of Scenic on production schedules. Assist in creating a budget for scenic elements. Do site visits, taking measurements and notes of the space. Liase with Senior Scenic Carpenter and Head Scenic Painter when working on a project. Ensure the team adheres to all deadlines and safety regulations. Manage crew members as needed for specific builds. Oversee the construction, fabrication, and installation of scenic elements, ensuring they meet the design specifications. Coordinate the transportation of scenic elements to and from the performance venue. Work with the Production to ensure all scenic elements are properly rigged, secured, and safe for use during performances. Ensure that all construction is completed within the allocated budget. Source materials, manage inventory, and coordinate with suppliers and vendors. Identify and troubleshoot any issues related to the construction process and suggest cost-effective solutions. Maintain regular communication with the key production team members to ensure alignment on all aspects of the scenic build. Keep detailed records of all scenic elements, including designs, changes and materials used. Ensure that all documentation are up-to-date. Ensure that all scenic construction, installation, and storage adhere to safety standards and regulations. Conduct safety briefings and ensure all team members are trained in safety protocols. Inspect the completed scenic elements to ensure they are safe for use during the production. Act as the Fire Marshall and First Aider on-site and in the workshop. Oversee the breakdown and storage of scenic elements after the production concludes. Coordinate with other departments for the return of rented materials or equipment. Evaluate the process and provide feedback to improve future scenic productions. On Site work: Although you will be required to work both in the workshop and on-site, you will be the main project manager going on site. Late-night work and travelling abroad will be required, depending on project deadlines and needs. You will need to be adaptable in managing these demands. Essential Skills and Experience: Experience in scenic construction and production management. Strong understanding of scenic design and technical aspects of production. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and scenic design plans. Experience in budgeting and managing production resources. Strong organizational and project management skills. Excellent communication abilities. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Basic understanding of Adobe Illustrator. Use of AutoCAD and SketchUp for draughtsmanship. Full UK Driver's License (up to 3.5 Ton). You will be responsible for supervising the logistical, technical, and artistic aspects of scenic production, ensuring that all elements of the set are constructed, installed, and maintained according to the production's vision and budget, overseeing all aspects of scenic production, from initial design through to the completion of the event. This includes sourcing materials, coordinating with designers and technicians, construction and painting department, ensuring safety standards, and the set-up and maintenance of scenic elements.
