Preston City Council's Cultural Service now has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Technical Assistant with excellent stage technical skills and experience.

As Technical Assistant you will assist the Technical Manager in delivery of the Technical Department's work, ensuring that all technical, facility and H&S aspects of the Guild Lounge are delivered to the highest quality. To assist in the management of the day-to-day technical operations of Guild Lounge guaranteeing effective systems are put in place to ensure that every performance is professionally prepared, all regulatory requirements are met and that all equipment is correctly maintained and fit for purpose. To ensure that all performances, workshops and events run smoothly from a technical perspective, including pre and post-show administrative duties, that will bring them back time and again

This is a critical role for the Guild Lounge to ensure that our ambitions to set up and grow the venue are realised. You will work closely with the Guild Lounge Technical Manager to deliver the technical aspects of the venue.

Job Responsibilities

Assist with the professional and efficient daily technical operation of the theatre. Communicate with visiting companies, gather show requirements and support creation of technical schedules. Help maintain technical facilities and equipment, including PAT testing. Assist with budget and financial admin and contribute to environmental improvements. Keep accurate time records and uphold strong working practices and production values. Maintain training and ensure qualifications remain in date. Support management of maintenance and service contracts. Assist with building and equipment maintenance and supervise contractors. Help ensure public areas are safe and presentable and carry out basic H&S-related tasks. Comply with all Health & Safety regulations and stay updated on industry changes. Ensure incoming productions' H&S information is complete. Act as key holder, maintain building security, attend meetings and support other tasks to ensure effective, sustainable venue operations.
